TRICKS AND TREATS FOR HALLOWEEN
Halloween can be a scary time not just because of Ghosts and Goblins. All those tempting little candies waiting to be handed out or navigating through spooky parties can also be pretty scary.
We have a few tricks to help you stay on track whether you are on program or maintaining your weight.
HANDING OUT CANDY:
-
Buy the treats the day of Halloween to avoid them calling your name the days before.
-
Buy treats you don’t like. 😊
-
Buy treats other than candy! What about little bags of carrots or apples? How about treats other than food? little toys like glowing worms and eyeballs, fun stickers or fake tattoos! Not only will this help you but it’s taking a step toward ending Childhood Obesity.
-
Trick or treat with the kids. It gets you away from the candy and you’ll get some exercise, win-win.
-
Cut your favorite bar or sweet snack into pieces. You can snack on Halloween night as your treat.
-
Get rid of that leftover candy!
ATTENDING A SOCIAL EVENT:
Make sure to eat before you go. It’s the oldest trick in the book, but it works.
-
Change your focus. Make it about having fun dressing up and making memories and connections with your friends and family.
-
Dress up in a costume with fake teeth. Not only fun but impossible to eat with them! Or a costume with gloves will keep you from reaching for the goodies.
-
Plan before you go to avoid alcohol. Bring some water enhancers and put them in club soda.
-
Remember your “WHY”. Why are you on this journey? Improving your health, reducing medications, being able to play with your grandchildren, the list goes on. What’s most important to you?
-
We’ve all experienced dealing with social pressures, here are some suggestions:
-
“I’m full”
-

-
"I'm doing a cleanse"
-
“I’ve been prescribed a medical protocol that reduces carbs and sugars”
-
“I’m driving”
-
“I’m taking a prescription and can’t drink alcohol”
-
MOST OF ALL HAVE A GOOD TIME AND CELEBRATE YOU!
